My history and some philosophy
PLACE:
One the most important things, I think, is where we belong.  What is "home" to me- or to you- is a vital part of who we are.

Place has always been an important concept to me:  not only where we ourselves lived, but who lived there previously, how did
they live, and how does their legacy continue?  That seems to explain my interest in history.  We are connected with what came
previously, and the need to recognize it and give it it's due is important to our finding how to live in the world today. Good, bad
or neutral, history is that upon which we build.  Whether we reject it, embrace it or fight against it, the only way not to learn from
it is to ignore it.

I was born and raised in Ironia, New Jersey.  My family is still in there.  I was also raised at my grandparent's house, in
Rockaway Township. That house, too, is still a part of my family, even though my grandparents are now both deceased.  The
towns in between these two places hold family and personal history for me.  Yet I can almost no longer recognize them, and
most people living there today probably don't know enough about the rich history of their adopted hometowns.

Currently, I reside in Knowlton Township, New Jersey, about 35 miles from where I grew up.  I am eager to learn all I can about
the people who came here before me.  My circa 1935 house is the greatest pleasure to me.  This has now become my home.  I
will assimilate into this area, and become a local, for that is how it should be. But I will not forget where I came from, either.

Tamara Jean Scully's Resume and Background
MY MISSION: Tamara's Writing Service is dedicated to creating thought-provoking, enlightening and educational articles,
especially those focusing on local agriculture systems and small farming, as well as regional history and heritage.  Nature and
outdoors writing along with the exploration of environmental concerns are also my favored topics.

Articles can be designed for the farming community or for the general population. Non-profits and other groups wishing to
have high quality writing to promote their missions are encouraged to contact me also.
MY BELIEFS:  By connecting our food to the farm, rather than the supermarket, obvious discrepancies in what we say we want and
what we actually support through our food purchases can be revealed.  Educated choices can then be made by each and every one of
us.

Through history, we can develop a sense of community and belonging.  WIthout this, we continue to float aimlessly as we fail to
incorporate the values on which our heritage was built.  Self-responsibility and societal obligation fall by the wayside and any meaning we
have as individuals and as a collective "people" collapses.
