facilitation services provided by Tamara Scully. More than just a name, DigIN on the Farm is a philosophy, and all of Tammy's services are based around this core belief. The DigIN philosophy begins with the farmer. Food starts on the farm. Unless the average person has a solid understanding of this, "local food," loses much of its meaning. Farms are where all food starts. Without farmers who respect the land, sow the seeds, tend the crops and harvest the bounty, local food would not exist, unless each and every one of us grew our own! This is forgotten, it seems, in much of the discussion of food today. DigIN on the Farm's mission is to reconnect people with the farming going on in their own communities. By serving as the "missing link" between the consumer and the farming population, DigIN's services work to promote farming viability through consumer connections, marketing, market development and more! DigIn on the Farm's services include: farm consultations, to assist the farmer in reaching a receptive consumer audience and to promote the unique, important features of the farm operation; effective, educational written copy for use in advertising, press releases, web sites or farm brochures; the management of online farmers' markets serving local communities in northwestern New Jersey; farm promotion through consumer seminars and speaker engagements for interested groups. If you are a farmer wishing to effectively reach consumers who can form the core customer base you need to stay viable, DigIN on the Farm can meet your needs.
farming and local food, DigIN's educational farm referrals and the database of farm profile articles- all written by Tamara and previously published in a variety of outlets- can invite you into the world of farming, for a first- hand look at how food is grown, why it is important and where you can get the food you are seeking right here at home! Chefs and restaurant owners wishing to feature local foods: Look no further! DigIN on the Farm can facilitate and simplify your connection to local farm food supply and distribution. |

Why DigIN on the Farm? Local food is all the rage! This is good news. However, without an understanding of the real issues farmers in our region face every day, a stated preference for local food can't translate into a viable local food system, where local is the first choice for all residents. DigIN is a play on words: "dig in" to the food on your plate and "digging" as a representation of the real labor that occurs on farms. It is meant to represent the actual work of farming that must occur before the act of eating and enjoying can take place. DigIN puts the farmer front and center in the local food movement- right where he belongs. |
